Abstract:
Magnetic aerogels have attracted much attention because of their special quality and functionality. The main method for the fabrication of magnetic aerogels is firstly dispersing magnetic nanoparticles into sol followed by gelling, aging and supercritical drying. The quality and structure of the magnetic aerogels produce changes with different aerogels matrix and magnetic nanoparticles which are used in many different fabrication methods. The magnetic nanoparticles mainly include MFe2O4, and the superparamagnetic iron oxide are the mostly used as magnetic functional materials. The interaction mechanisms between magnetic nanoparticles and aerogel matrix, texture and quality of the magnetic aerogels materials are always explored in inorganic magnetic aerogels synthesized with SiO2 aerogels and TiO2 aerogels as the matrix. However, the organic magnetic aerogels, graphene and carbon as the matrix, are focused on the application in catalysis, adsorption and bio-separation. This review aims to describe recent research progress of magnetic aerogels based on the synthesis, quality and their application in future of magnetic aerogels.
