Biominerals have become hotspots in many disciplines due to their highly ordered structure and good mechanical properties. The research on microbe-mediated biomineralization can help us to understand the evolution process of life more systematically, and provide new ideas for the development of new materials. Among them, bacteria-mediated biomineralization is favored by researchers for its potential value. Firstly, this article introduces the processes of calcification, silicification and iron mineralization induced by bacterial. Then, we discuss the possible mechanisms for bacterial-mediated biological mineral formation. Finally, we describe the application of biominerals in the environmental, industrial, and medical fields. It is expected that this study may help the further development of biomineralization.
