Abstract:
Carbon fiber reinforced composite/titanium alloy (CFRP/Ti) laminated materials are widely used in the aerospace sector due to their exceptional qualities. The laminated material is typically bolted together during the manufacturing process to create the necessary assembly structure. Improvements in holemaking quality and hole-making life are of great concern because they directly impact the mechanical properties of the laminated material and other quality indicators. In this paper, the development of hole-making technology for CFRP/Ti composites is reviewed both domestically and internationally. The process of making holes in CFRP/Ti laminated materials, the defects and their formation mechanism as well as the factors influencing the quality of hole making are highlighted from two aspects: drilling hole making and helical milling. The benefits of vibrationassisted machining and the minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) cooling technique are discussed, along with the potential future development path for CFRP/Ti laminated material holemaking technology.
