Abstract:
This paper reviews the newest worldwide research progress on acicular ferrite (AF) in weld metal for high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel. More AF can be mainly obtained by the effective control of three aspects: ① when C content is between 005 and 010% with a carbon equivalent of less than 039, the ratios between Mn, Ni, Ti, and B can be reasonably controlled, and the ratio of B/N is between 06 and 08, Al/O is between 043 and 073, while N, S, P contents are reduced; ② when the size of inclusion is in the range of 05~08 μm with 10~20 nm TiO in the inclusion surface and with its shape being globular, then more third and fourth types of inclusions can be obtained;
