Abstract:
LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 powder was prepared by co-precipitation method and solid state reaction method,the precursor prepared by the co-prcipitation was Ni0.8Co0.2(OH)2. The effects of the synthesis temperature, synthesis time, the high temperature calcination temperature and the calcination time on the electrochemical properties of the cathode material were investigated in detail. The electrochemical properties of the prepared LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 were characterized by galvanostatic charge–discharge test. The results indicated that the LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 prepared at 55℃ for 3h had the best electrochemical performance, its first discharge capacity was 164.5mAh?g-1 and capacity retention after 50 cycles was 92.6% . The calcination temperatures and calcination times caused great difference in the electrchemical properties of  LiNi0.8Co0.2O2, its electrochemical properties increased with the increase of calcination temperature and calcination time. The best electrochemical properties were obtained at the calcination temperature of 800℃ for 20h, its first discharge capacity was 162 mAh?g-1 . Therefore, the optimum synthetic conditions were: synthesis temperature was 55℃, synthesis time was 6h, calcination temperature was 800℃ and calcination time was 20h.
