Abstract:
In this paper, the development, the advantages and disadvantages of performance and application of several main Ti-Al intermetallic compounds, including Ti3Al, TiAl and Al3Ti, are briefly described. Several fiber reinforcements are summarized, and compared with other fibers, the performance of continuous SiC fiber makes it have good application prospect. Preparation methods of two kinds of continuous SiC fibers are summarized, containing precursor conversion method and physical vapor deposition method. The properties of bundle SiC fiber and monofilament wire SiC (W or C core) fiber are reviewed. Preparation methods of SiC fiber reinforced Ti-Al intermetallic matrix composites are also summarized. This paper also deals with the interfacial reaction between the fiber and the matrix of SiC fiber reinforced Ti-Al intermetallic matrix composites and modification processing of the interface property. The direction of the development of continues SiC fiber reinforced Ti-Al intermetallic matrix composites is also pointed out in this review.
