- Abstract:
- Cold spraying is an emerging solid-state material deposition technology, which the coating is formed by the strong plastic deformation caused by the high-speed impact of solid particles on the substrate. Due to its high deposition efficiency, low porosity and high bonding strength,it has broad application potential in aerospace, automobile, energy, ocean, transportation, petroleum and chemical industries. The focus of the cold spraying has been transfering from theoretical research to industrial application over the past 30 years. In the present work, development history of bonding mechanisms and material systems was reviewed by briefly introducing principles of cold spraying. Furthermore, development trends of cold spraying in terms of high performance, low cost and additive manufacturing were summarized, involving spray systems, powders, working gases and off-line path optimization. Finally, challenges and prospects of cold spraying were proposed
