Abstract:
The YBCO coated conductor is an important material for application of high temperature superconductors in the future because of its excellent superconductivity properties. Therefore, lots of efforts have been made to develop coated conductors all over the world, especially the tremendous progresses made by Japan, USA and other countries for fabrication of coated conductor long tapes in recent years. There are two main technical routes to fabricate coated conductors, which are Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) and Rolling Assisted Biaxial Textured Substrates (RABiTS). IBAD was utilized more widely and has achieved better product performance. Comparative analysis of these two technical routes was carried out. The worldwide progresses were introduced, and the fabrication of three structural components (ie metallic substrate, buffer layers and superconducting film) was discussed for comparison of the two routes.
